Go Red for Women

Avanti Senior Living is proud to be a local sponsor for the American Heart Association’s 15th annual Montgomery County Go Red for Women Sweet 15 Celebration. This empowering event will take place from 1:00pm-4:00pm on May 23, 2019 at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott.  The celebration will showcase exhibits and vendors, as well as Dancing with the Stars celebrity Val Chmerkovskiy, and Connie Watt, the VP of the JJ Watt Foundation as special guests.

The Go Red for Women campaign that ultimately became a movement was initiated in 2004 with a mission to raise awareness for the #1 killer among women – heart disease, while advocating the need for research and development, education, prevention, and clinical trials. Having raised over $500 million over the past 15 years, this global platform has given women the resources to make healthier lifestyle choices and created a community of support to last a lifetime.

According to the Go Red for Women website, “Nearly 80 percent of cardiac events can be prevented, cardiovascular diseases continue to be a woman’s greatest health threat.” It’s not just about wearing red to show support; it’s not just about providing facts; it’s about increasing awareness about a virtually preventable threat that takes the lives of an unimaginable number of people every day.

Lori Alford, Avanti Senior Living’s COO, is honored to be the chairwoman for this year’s Go Red for Women Sweet 15 Celebration in The Woodlands. For Alford, this inspiring event is not only personal, but professional. Being a part of a women-led company, Alford knows the importance of, and is committed to, women’s health. “We believe that fighting heart disease and stroke, as well as promoting healthy lifestyles in women, is a top priority and we are proud to be able to support the Go Red for Women event,” says Alford.

Avanti Senior Living provides holistic care to enrich the lives of the aging population.  Its unique amenities, innovative design, and assisted living and memory care programming changes the level of care for senior living.
