“You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.” – Maya Angelou

Have you ever pondered the meaning of life? Maybe you’ve come to the conclusion that by self-improvement and self-growth, you can improve your quality of life. So…now what do you do? You can seek knowledge from websites, books, and even your friends and family. But, it’s not enough to just learn about it…you have to apply it.

Here are 3 tips towards self-improvement:

1. Listen and Learn

Surprisingly, one of the easiest ways to improve yourself is by listening to others. There’s nothing more interesting than listening to those who have experienced much during their lifetime. Sitting down with seniors as they reminisce about their childhood, their hobbies, and their interests, not only helps them cognitively, but also helps you to listen and learn. You can learn from their mistakes and listen to their advice. It’s a win-win!

2. Be Kind to Others

We’ve all heard the Golden Rule: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”. Being kind to others and treating them with love, respect, consideration, and appreciation, will not only make you feel good, but it will make them feel good about themselves. Having a sense of empathy and compassion for others will help you grow as a person, and it’s something you can pass down to others.

3. Set Goals and Never Give Up

Setting goals gives you something to look forward to. Short-term goals are easier to achieve and more attainable. Once you reach your short-term goals, you can move your goal, or create long-term goals. It takes commitment, inspiration, and determination to accomplish something. Also, don’t be disappointed if you find it difficult to attain your goal. Strive and never give up.
